TED talks on the “War Horse” Puppets

Earlier this year TED did a talk with Handspring Puppet Co. about their design for the War Horse puppets. War Horse premiered in 2007 at that National Theater in London, it had two sold out runs in that space and has since moved to the West End of London. Currently it is also in Previews at Lincoln Center in New York.

As one can imagine, creating a realistic life-size puppet is incredibly difficult. Puppeteer-designers Adrian Kohler and Basil Jones do a wonderful job at explaining how this design was created and brought to life. The TED video is below. Enjoy!
